Default So you wanna 55 Cantha?

So You wanna 55 Cantha...

First off I'd like to say I solo with a Ne/Mo.
Heres the attributes and what you'll need:

Superior Curses Scar Pattern with Superior Curses Rune
Superior Blood,Death and 2xSoul Reap are the others.

I use customized Vilnars Claw and the -50 hp Grim Cesta which can be obtained in Ascalon through a quest given by Simon the Scribe.

Attributes are as follows:
Blood 5
Curse 16
Healing 8
Protection 10
Remander in Smite and Soul Reap

ok well in my short experience in Cantha I've decided to put my Necro to the test and try and do some soloing and here are a few areas i know for a fact can be solo'd..I'll explain them in depth and with pointers as much as I can..so lets start with the ever popular Pongmei Valley.

First off the Undergrowths and Kirins are very simple, try and take to many though and you might become mulch.Try and take seperate groups consisting of Kirins first and Undergrowths second.Kirins will spawn Minions that feed their masters hp when they attack you,so try and target 2 seperate Kirins with SS when taking these groups on (Minions are slow and do very little dmg).A side bonus with the minions are that if you kill Kirins and leave minions, the minions will start attacking undergrowths, due to masterless mindlessness. The skills and dmg attacks the Kirins carry won't do much in groups of 3 or 4.Just keep your PS and HB up and you'll be fine.Undergrowths don't pack a big punch either maybe the odd Bull's Charge or something but all in all SS and just stand there.Keep this tactic up and you'll clear most of the beginning of Pongmei Valley in about 5 minutes.

Also In Pongmei Valley are Island Guardians and Rot Wallows. Now I'm not the best solo artist out there but I've done my fair share, avoid these enemies.Island Guardians wont attack you fast enough and Rot Wallows use Vampiric Bite which will kill you, again avoid..its possible to PS,HB and run in and out if a chest spawns near them but don't stand toe to toe with these guys, you'll ultimately lose.

There are also Archers,Knights, Ritualists,Elementalists and Mesmers in the valley. Now Archers you just need to pull together and SS each of them (normally 2 in a group) and they will kill each other.Knights are simple and useful as dmg dealers against elementalists and ritualists.Normally you can run right by them if you really want.Mesmers I like to avoid just for the oopsy factor..they can kill you fast if you dont have an attack plan and full grasp of Vig Spirit use and using Knights as dmg dealing meat vehicles..leave them if you can..not that important.

Also in the valley there are Yeti..Yeti will lay traps..be aware of this AFTER they die..normally a spike trap AND viper trap will be set and I can't emphasize enough how STUPID you will feel after seeing that gold Yeti Plating drop only to get zapped from a trap..always wait a few for traps.Yeti yet again, try and group and keep PS and HB up,if theres a pet attacking you ,let it..nice little energy gain.SS and Parasite Yetis, keep a little bit back from them due to traps but keep cycling SS and Parasite and you'll be fine.

There is also 3 bosses in the valley,Xuekao,Mr.Mountainclub and an Afflicted Boss (Note:in my attempts with the afflicted mob i have died everytime I would avoid them..but hey like i said im no expert).

XueKao: PS,SS,Parasite,HB (repeat)stand there. You'll have one dead boss in no time.

Mr.Mountainclub:has some knockdown skills so keep your PS and HB up at all times.Use SS and Insidious on him over and over..he'll die.Once and a while a Yeti buddy of his will run up to you to join the clubbing with him..just SS him as well.

Thats about it for the Valley.

Chests are ok in the valley..sometimes you'll get some golds.Stolen Provisions drop from Yetis and provide a variety of different crafting materials including Ink Vials and Tempered Glass vials as well as others.

Melandrus Hope:

Another area I've attempted is Melandrus Hope. Now its actually really easy to solo and make sure you're packing some Kurzick Keys because chests can be fruitful sometimes around here.Your basic enemies here include Dreamweavers,Menders,Stormcallers and Mantis.Lets break them down to what you need to avoid.

Dreamweavers, well they are like the Bug Mesmer equivalent, they don't shatter but cast a serious hp drain on you.(Normally each enemy comes in groups of 2 here ie:Stormcaller and Mantis or Dreamweaver and Mantis).Basically when you come across a Mantis and Dreamweaver you want PS and HB up..Parasite Mantis and run to Dreamweaver, keep HB and PS up..when hp drain is off you, cast SS on Mantis and attack dreamweaver,(you are standing beside Dreamweaver right?)SS will drop dreamweaver fairly quicky.

Stormcallers are the Bug equivalent of Eles, they will drop Maelstorm on you.Maelstorm damages and interrupts you..run out of it lest you wish to die.Same Deal as Dreamweavers..use the Mantis as a dmg dealer with SS and run beside the Stormcaller..attack Stormcaller while SS punks him out..kill Mantis.

Menders are fairly easy to kill as well..just Parasite and SS repeat and rinse and they will drop.

There are also Dredge in the valley, they are normally accompanied by Wallows, again Vampiric Bite will kill you so avoid.Cutters,Guardians and Gardeners are your basic variety of Dredge.Cutters will warp at you and be on you in an instant if you get in to aggro bubble to fast.Guardians uses apply poison and will dmg you severely.Gardeners are your basic healers for Dredge and really are not that aggressive.Ive been able to take 1 group of dredge by using a wall to my advantage that blocked the Guardians arrows from hitting me..thats the only way i survived.Cutters will use Interrupts on you and be a pain in the butt.if your'e going to attempt these enemies..plan ahead and find tactics to block guardians from hitting you with poison.PS and SB will keep you alive for a while..but if you don't Parasite a Cutter and get an SS of pretty fast you might be in a world of hurt pretty fast.

There is various Bosses in the Valley and I've personally only successfully killed 3.Two are outside Jade Flats and the other is outside Lutgardis Conservatory (*sp?).Lutgardis Boss is simple and laughable, turn left when leaving Conservatory and hug the wall you'll see Byzzr Dreamspanker or whatever his name is..(he'll be in a little alcove..just walk up to the wall seperating you and him and cast SS on him,(repeat, repeat etc) he'll die.(Note a big mob spawns if you run in there after he dies so be prepared). This Boss drops Byzzrs Benediction which is a Monk offhand.A good farming Alternative for this boss is to drop Insidious Parasite and load Reckless Haste, that, times SS kills him rather fast, just rezone and repeat.

The 2 other Bosses I mentioned are another Byzzr (a Necro Boss Elite is Something =X) and my favorite Salke Fur Friend (Ranger Boss : Elite is Heal as One).Greens I'm not sure of here as I havent had any drops from either.Nice to skill cap with a guildie or get decent drops. These Bosses can be found right outside Jade Flats.Salke has different mobs that spawn with him none are the same so its always a little demanding.Be prepared for Wardens of the Forest,Tree,Summer,Earth,Branch and Spring.all of which are easy except for the Wardens of Tree and Forest, these are your melee enemies and will cause knock down so take healers out which would be Spring and Summer.Earth can be a bit of a pig with Churning Earth but just step out of it if possible..practice makes perfect here but its a blast in my opinion. The Necro Boss just stay back and SS and Parasite him..if you go to far into the alcove he sits in a mob spawns so stay back and cast on him.

Missions:

Well as far as Missions go I can say this much,Nephuti Quarter Mission is mostly soloable.Basically all your enemies are as follows,Star Blades:Melee,Star Lights:Mes equivalent and Star Archers (can't think of their titles atm). All super easy, all very doable, the only variable in any of these enemies you need to be aware of if from the Star Lights, they cast this nasty little spell called Nightmare Weapon, now this will either hurt you very little, alot or kill you instantly).Don't be afraid of them just use Blades as Dmg vehicles and they drop,if no Blades are around just SS and Parasite them.Theres also the option of running..I've found these enemies won't follow you very far and as long as you keep PS and HB up you can actually Chest run this mish..give it a go I love doing it.Now the hard part of this mission..the Bosses..I havent killed all the bosses,in fact I've only killed one, that would be the Dragon Boss, just leave Blades and Archers as energy boosters for you and SS and Parasite the Dragon,he'll die.THe other Bosses ,well give them a go and see for yourself.

Maybe this helps some people..I'm actually kinda hoping a dev will read this and nerf it..not the 55 but the areas..I'd love to work around whatever they come up with.

Happy Hunting I hope this helps some people. As a side note..I don't do this to mess with the economy or drain the merchants, actually if you ask anyone I've ever taken on a run I give most of my stuff away..this (for me) is enjoyable..as well as yelling at henchies not rezzing me.

I apologize this should have probaly been posted in the PVE builds forum..but i keep seeing these farming cantha posts and i figured i'd drop it here.

Thank you, I'm glad this post has helped some people.I was happy to see over seven thousand views in this thread. This guide was written rather quick but I think once you actually get into doing it,you understand what i'm trying to explain.I also noticed I didn't include my skills list in this thread.

If you follow this link :
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ferrerid=92302

you'll also fing a guide I've done for soloing Chebabas Longbow,The Spiriteater and Ssakis Sword as a Ne/Mo as well as a couple screens of Nephui Bosses. While a little dated already, everything is about the same still.

Thanks again for the kind words.I'm putting together another guide for Titans, and various other spots I go to in Factions including Strongroots Shelter,Arbors Earth Staff and many others.

You don't even list skills... this fails to qualify as a guide.

yea unfortunately I think this was the first guide I ever posted here if I remember correctly, doesnt really matter how many replies I get in here, this and the other thread I linked are over 4 months old though..so i dont know how "covered" the "55 necro" runs in Cantha were posted at that time, doesnt matter ultimately,I hope I've maybe helped some people.

Very nice guide.

I must say though, I was very dissappointed that I was mislead about the title. Silly me, I thought it was how to become a 55 Canthan (only). Basically, this is a Tyrian Ne/Mo soloing in Canthas.

Again nice guide.

55'ing with only Canthan skills/Core skills is all but impossible (or too hard to effectively do 100% success runs)

You lose Balt Spirit, Essense Bond, Bonetti's Defense (for Mo/W), among others. :\
